 What is Urmston Manchester.com About?

I don’t know about you but I find a new web site I quite often look for the About or About Me page just to get an overall flavour of the site. See “What’s in it for me” type of thing.

Michael A BolandSo introductions first - my name is Michael A Boland and I was born and bred in Urmston and by the look of things I will probably pop my clogs here sooner or later.

The chances are more than likely to be sooner than later if I carry on eating cholesterol busting desserts like this one! Yum yum.... come to Daddy!

I’m 60 years old which is just not fair coz last time I checked I was barely fifteen and heading off for a new life in Canada (came back 2 years later – been here ever since).

Every day for the whole 2012 I will publish fresh, original photos of Urmston, Flixton, Davyhulme or Stretford on the pages of this web site. You have my permission to use these photos for any purpose that you so wish. Personal or business purposes - you may do whatever you like with them within reason. Have a look at my disclaimer page for clarity. You can find the link at the bottom of the page.

At the end of 12 months we should have a ‘picture’ of Urmston, Flixton, Davyhulme and Stretford through the four seasons of the year.

Lots of areas will be photographed many times just so that we can get a pictorial sense of Urmston in all its seasons.

What can Urmston Manchester.com offer you?

Well apart from free images to use in your own projects I would like some input from yourselves. If there are any landmarks, buildings, parks, churches, cemeteries, meadows, roads etc. that you would like to see featured on this site then please let me know and I will do my best to make it happen.

I have laid out some rough geographic boundaries within which I am more than happy to take any scenes or landmarks that you'd like to see featured on the site. You can find the boundaries on the Photo Taking Boundaries page.

Maybe you live somewhere else in the world now but spent your childhood in Urmston and would like to see how things look today. Maybe you’d like a particular view of Urmston, Flixton, Davyhulme or Stretford to send to a loved one.

You may use the comment boxes added to each page to let me know which roads or landmarks that you'd like tom see featured.

What else can Urmston Manchester.com offer you?

Well if you operate a business locally then I will advertise your business for all of 2012 for FREE – yep that’s right – free – gratis – no charge – zip – No upsell, side sell down sell or any other sell.

Same deal apply to any other local based groups, hobbyists, church groups, play groups, charities, sports clubs, drinking clubs, etc. etc.

Send me your details and even a few lines about your business or group. Include any info that you deem relevant. From my own perspective whenever I conduct a search the things that I’m mostly looking for are:

1. PHONE NUMBER
2. Address
3. Hours of business
4. Email address
5. Photo is sometimes helpful

My goal is to make Urmston Manchester.com a popular site for all people who are related to Urmston and its surrounding towns or who have a passing interest in Urmston, Flixton, Davyhulme or Stretford especially those wishing to see current images of the same.

The main thrust of this web site is photographic representation of Urmston during our Olympic year - how it is today and how it appears and changes through Winter, Spring, Summer and Autumn of 2012.

Having said that I may publish older pictures relating to my school days at English Martyrs and St Paul's Secondary school (now St Anthony's College).

There are going to be about 50 new photos a WEEK published within these pages with lots of Slide shows and videos and uploads to You Tube.

Urmston Manchester has its own You Tube Channel and it’s called – well no prizes for guessing URMSTONmanchester (spelt exactly like that) and you can find it at:

From my own business point of view I will be developing a lot personalised gift ideas that will only be available through Urmston Manchester.com

If you’ve got sons and daughters, brothers or sisters Mums and Dads friends and relatives that no longer live nearby - how would you like to be able to send them a personalised video of Urmston Manchester.com area photos?

I will personalise the videos with pictures of you and your family with greeting captions – all made to be playable on their smart phone or even HD on their Telly. Cool huh?

Maybe a hardback book with dust cover using the same details as above would make a perfect gift for that extra special occasion.

You choose the photos of Urmston, Flixton, Davyhulme or Stretford straight off the website plus your own message and personal photos.

Anyway there will be lots of great gift ideas for those special people in your life for those very special occasions.
